About this event
Under the auspices of Audubon Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Outward Bound School, a century-old reservoir has become a unique wildlife sanctuary and a major migratory stopover for over 100 species of birds - and home of the Discovery Center.
Winter is a good time to look for wintering waterfowl in Philadelphia and the depth of the East Park Reservoir makes it a great spot for diving ducks. We'll start at the Discovery Center and scan the water for Bufflehead, Canvasbacks, Mergansers and Gulls. We'll than take a quick walk along the trail to look for songbirds before heading back to the Center.
Our guide Navin Sasikumar is an experienced urban birder who leads trips for BirdPhilly/DVOC and regular walks at the John Heinz NWR in Tinicum.
We will meet at the library to carpool at 9:45, or if you prefer at the Discovery Center (3401 Reservoir Drive, 19121) at 10.
Please register here on line or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6) so we know to look for you.
