Curious About Kimonos?  Japanese Objects from the Textile & Costume Collection

Friday, March 22, 1 PM

The Design Center, Jefferson East Falls Campus, 4200 Henry Ave. (on left going from East Falls), just before bridge).  Limited parking on-site [Google Map]

Thomas Jeffersons Textile and Costume Collection houses many treasures, among them numerous garments, accessories, and textiles from Japan.

Join us for a closer look at these pieces and hear more about how theyre constructed, embellished, and worn. We’ll dive into the details of some of our most beautiful kimonos and you will hear about (and see) how one of them inspired a piece of art in East Falls.

About Jade Papa:  Jade Papa is a costume and textile historian.  She brings to her work not only extensive experience in object preservation, identification, and research, but an intense curiosity about how these objects shaped and were shaped by the people and cultures who wore the garments and created the textiles.  This interest sprung from her experiences as a theatrical costume designer and maker.

Space is limited in this special members-only event.  Register online or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6).

Access and parking:  Carpool or walking is best. There is limited parking behind the white wall at the Center.  Please do not park along the driveway itself.  There is additional visitor parking across the street at Search Hall, near the corner of School House Lane.
