Museum for Art in Wood -12:30
Registration is required
Registration cancellations will be accepted
Members pay for their own charges
the Museum for Art in Wood has been widely recognized by artists, collectors, scholars, and the public as a critical resource for the study of art, craft, and design in the material of wood. In its location in Old City, the Museum offers admission to its changing exhibitions and access to its permanent collection, which now numbers some 1,200 objects and includes turned objects, sculpture, studio furniture, works on paper, video, and more.
Join us for a tour of this unique museum. Check out the current exhibition, The Mashrabiya Project. Mashrabiya are screens assembled without glue from thousands of lath-turned wooden elements. Besides allowing ventilation in the harsh north-African climate, they delineate private from public, male from female spaces in accord with Islam, and more. And plenty of time for the gift shop!
Meet at the Falls Library at 11:45 to carpool, or join us there a bit before 12:30 PM.
Please register on line or at 267-444-4507 (voice or text, M-F, 9-6), so we can tell the museum how many to expect. We'll collect $5 from each when we arrive and pay for the group.
Members and their guests. $5 at museum. Registration required.
