Self Portrait, George Biddle
George Biddle (1885–1973) was a leading American artist whose work engaged with the human condition, in particular the social injustices he encountered in his journeys across the United States and abroad. "The Art of American Social Conscience" includes some seventy works that explore Biddle’s creative engagement with a full spectrum of social change during his lifetime: the cultural resonances of both World Wars, the Russian Revolution, the executions of anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, the Great Depression, the Holocaust, and white supremacy.
Meet us at Woodmere about 10:00 to see this exhibit. And afterwards, the museum store is open for some fine shopping.
Registration is recommended here on line, or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6) so we can inform you of any change of plans.
For non-member seniors the entrance fee is $7.
COVID Precautions: Vaccinations and boosters are required.
