Many of us saw Greer Pagano's fascinating Zoom presentation on the Venice Biennale last spring.  Join her December 2 at 2 PM for this very timely presentation.

We will discuss the pressing topics of repatriation and restitution within the art world. Drawing on examples like the Benin Bronzes and the Elgin Marbles we will ask questions about the role of encyclopedic museums in the West, cultural legacies of colonialism and imperialism, and the calls for restorative justice. We will touch on philosophical questions about who owns artwork as well as the current legal frameworks put into place so that great masterworks can return to their rightful homes.

Dr Pagano is an independent curator and educator based in Philadelphia - and the daughter of Village members Glennis and Jay Pagano. She has been an instructor for undergraduate art history and education at Ohio State and Moore College of Art, among others, and Chief Curator at the Pizzuti Collection in Columbus Ohio.

Please register on line or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6), so we can send you the Zoom link the day before the program.

Everyone welcome.  Free. Registration required.
