About this event

East Falls’ historic Old Academy Players joyfully celebrates its 100th season by cordially inviting the community to an Open House on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 12 noon – 4 pm (rain or shine) at 3544 Indian Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19129.

Members of Old Academy will share their love of performing, giving theatre tours (12:15 pm & 3:45 pm) as well as live performances (1 pm – 3 pm). Attendees will be encouraged to frolic on stage and read a 2-minute monologue (provided) or perform a monologue of their own choosing. The afternoon’s festivities will be filled with fun for the entire family, including light refreshments and tasty snacks. Enter a drawing to receive 2 complimentary tickets to an upcoming performance. Commemorative 100th anniversary T-shirts & mugs will be available for purchase

Members will be glad to share information about the upcoming season’s plays & musicals. Old Academy is an organization of volunteers who share the spotlight as well as backstage duties in producing six shows each season. If you love theater and you’d like to be a part of it, the Old Academy welcomes you. Experience is not a requirement. One can participate in acting, working backstage as a props person, operating lighting and sound effects, ushering, serving refreshments, creating costumes, designing and building sets, or working on one of our many committees such as Publicity, Fundraising or Social.

Old Academy Players, where Grace Kelly and Robert Prosky made their stage debuts, is a non-profit community theater located at 3544 Indian Queen Lane in East Falls (Philadelphia), the urban village on the Schuylkill River. Constructed in 1819, the Old Academy building has been the OAP home since 1932. Old Academy Players, a member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, has provided continuous community theater since 1923. Support is provided by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. “All the world's a stage…” especially September 17 at Old Academy Players’ Open House!
