A New: Hip, Knee, Shoulder?
Joint Replacements
Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 2:30 on Zoom
Registration Required
As we age, many of us will need a joint replacement – hip, knee, shoulder, etc.. We may be skeptical and scared about the procedure and the rehabilitation.
Learn the good, the bad, and what they would do differently from a panel of “bionic” East Falls Village members who have had one (or more) joint replacements. The panel members - Marie Filipponi, Ken Kolodziej, and Lynda Spector - have had a total of six joint replacements!
The panel will be moderated by physical therapist Dr. Chris McKenzie of McKenzie Sports Physical Therapy, who will talk about the importance of post-surgery rehab and ensure you learn....
• What the joint replacement risk factors are, so you can identify if you fall into this category and make changes as needed.
• When to know if your joint is ready, so you can be confident you are making the correct decision.
• What are the risk factors for a longer hospital length of stay, so you can start taking action now to avoid it.
• What are the contraindications to surgery, so you can prepare yourself.
• What a pre-operative physical therapy program could look like so you can get stronger going into the surgery.
NOTE - This is an encore of a well-received program that was held in October at the Falls Library.
