About this event
The Geology of Iceland
The Land of Fire and Ice
Thursday, Oct. 17, 7:15 PM.
Wolcoff Auditorium, Roxborough Memorial Hospital
Park in hospital parking lots on Rector Street. Site is accessible.
Career geologist and VOR Member Mindi Snoparsky-Lammendola will show maps and photos that will explain Iceland's unique geology. Why is it unique? Iceland is where North America and Europe meet and its rocks, volcanoes, waterfalls and glaciers tell its story.
It is no exaggeration to say that Iceland is like no other country on Earth. Iceland is only a five-hour flight from Philadelphia, yet few people are aware of its stunning landscapes, geological wonders and impact on global history.
