About this event
A New: Hip, Knee, Shoulder?
Joint Replacements
As we age, many of us will need a joint replacement – hip, knee, shoulder, etc.. We may be skeptical and scared about the procedure and the rehabilitation.
Learn the good, the bad, and what they would do differently from a panel of “bionic” East Falls Village members who have had one (or more) joint replacements. The panel will be moderated by physical therapist Dr. Chris McKenzie of McKenzie Sports Physical Therapy, who will talk about the importance of post-surgery rehab and ensure you learn....
- What the joint replacement risk factors are, so you can identify if you fall into this category and make changes as needed.
- When to know if your joint is ready, so you can be confident you are making the correct decision.
- What are the risk factors for a longer hospital length of stay, so you can start taking action now to avoid it.
- What are the contraindications to surgery, so you can prepare yourself.
- What a pre-operative physical therapy program could look like so you can get stronger going into the surgery.
