Join us for a private guided tour of the Hassrick House, a mid-century modern gem right here in East Falls. Designed by Austrian-born architect Richard Neutra, this house was built in 1958 and after a painstaking renovation project, it is now on Philadelphia’s Register of Historic Places and is owned by Thomas Jefferson University.
The Hassrick House is one of only a few East Coast homes designed by Neutra, a significant architect whose work is located primarily in southern California. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out on private gardens and Fairmount Park, and the native materials and superb craftsmanship (including a kitchen created by renowned woodworker George Nakashima) make it one of a kind.
Our tour will be led by Dr. David Breiner, the Associate Dean and Associate Professor of the College of Architecture and the Built Environment at Thomas Jefferson University.
