Taking Charge of Your Bone Health
With Physical Therapist Joanne Fagerstrom
Friday, November 17 - 11 am to 1 pm
Falls of Schuylkill Library, 3501 Midvale Ave.
Presented by East Falls Village and the Friends of the Falls of Schuylkill Library
Did you know that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 4 men over the age of 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their remaining lifetime, and that osteoporosis is responsible for 1.5 million fractures a year in the US?
There is a lot of confusing information about what to do if you have been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis. You’ve probably heard that exercise is good, but medical evidence shows that some common exercises such as toe touches can actually put you at risk for spinal fracture.
Joanne Fagerstrom, PT, CFP, will discuss ways to prevent such fractures in this free workshop.
A physical therapist for over 40 years, she was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2009. She then began to research the condition and to develop her bone health program, which has enabled her to reverse the diagnosis.
She will present information based on the latest, evidence-based guidelines from the medical community. All participants will receive a handout with room to take notes.
Open to everyone, whether members of East Falls Village or the Friends of the Falls of Schuylkill Library or not.
Registration is recommended – email info@eastfallsvillage.org or call 267-444-4507 if you do not have email.
Please use the Meeting Room entrance from the Library Garden.
