HomeBurning Man with Charlie Day

Burning Man 2024 – An Amazing Spectacle in the Nevada Desert”

East Falls NOW
, February 2024
By Mary Flournoy

Charlie Day, an East Falls Village member, will present “Burning Man 2024 – An Amazing Spectacle in the Nevada Desert” via Zoom on Friday, Feb. 14 at 2 pm. The program is open to everyone,  but pre-registration is required. Email
info@eastfallsvillage.org to register. The Zoom link will be sent the day before the event.

Charlie attended his first Burning Man Festival in 2023; that festival made news because heavy rains created a sea of mud for the 72,000 people there. What inspired Charlie to go to Burning Man? His son, a regular Burner, had been trying to persuade him to go for years and after watching a video of another Charlie (who went at the age of 81), Charlie decided to go.

What is Burning Man? It is a collection of artists, constructors, and community organizers who create art, music, events, and community for a weeklong festival. In 2023, Charlie took photos of enormous art installations (such as a 26-foot wide butterfly). Charlie was fascinated – and went back in 2024. This year Charlie was one of 68,000 at Burning Man. And again, he documented the experience in photos and videos which he’ll share in his Zoom presentation on Feb. 14.

And you can watch his talk from last year anytime – it was recorded and is on Re-Zoom section of the East Falls Village website.  (You don’t need to login or know how to use Zoom!) Sue Harrison watched the recording and said it was very interesting and Sue Sauerman saw Charlie’s presentation at Cathedral Village and said it was better than last year’s
