What is this?
Join us for a big day on Chestnut Street!
We will start at at the Science History Institute, 315 Chestnut Street. Formerly the Chemical Heritage Foundation, the newly named museum covers more realms of science, taking us on a journey through the weird and wonderful world of matter and materials. Discover the science in your life!
The museum is free.
We move on to the Second Bank of the US, at 420 Chestnut Street. Built between 1819 and 1824, this is an architectural treasure, modeled after the Parthenon and acting as the standard-bearer for many subsequent American banks. It holds a "who's who" of Revolutionary War-era portraits - Hamilton, Thomas Mifflin, Lafayette, among others. The collection includes over 100 portraits .
The Bank is free.
And then we will have lunch at El Azteca, 714 Chestnut Street. This Mexican restaurant has rave reviews:
"everything you order will be worth every single calorie"
"best Mexican food in the area. The menu is extensive, so it is easy to find something you love"
"love the place! The food is amazing, the staff is very helpful and friendly"
We will take the 9:48 train from the EF SEPTA Station. If you prefer, look for us at the Science History Institute at about 10:30.
Please register here on line or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6) so we know to look for you.
