Walking Tour of the Hills of the Wissahickon Watershed

Wednesday, October 18

10 am – 12 noon

Meet at the Saylor Grove constructed wetland (across from the Sunoco at Wissahickon Ave & Rittenhouse St. – park on Rittenhouse). Wear sturdy shoes or hiking sandals.


Registration REQUIRED by October 17. Register online or call 267-444-4507.

Registrants will be notified by 9 am if the walk will be cancelled due to significant rain.

This two-hour, three-mile loop hike will focus on the watershed and the urban water use cycle. Sandy Sorlien, our leader, lives in Roxborough and is an environmental engineer at the Fairmount Water Works. Our tour will begin with a brief indoor tour of the houses at Rittenhouse Town, We will walk over trails, roads, and some hills in the wooded valleys of the Wissahickon and Monoshone Creeks, learning the history, engineering, and ecology of several special sites.
