What we know as Classical music rests entirely on the sure knowledge of what is written on the page, what the composer set down for the music. We find musicality simply, beautifully in the way that something is expressed. However, before the 19th century, the performer held the final say and often changed much of the music, adding ornamentation, altering lines to their taste - even recomposing entire portions of music. Now, when we perform music in a historically informed way, we have to learn how to think of music differently than anyone trained classically. Join Theodore for a lecture recital with lute, where he demonstrates Baroque methods for ornamentation and performance. Please register by June 25, on-line or by calling 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6). The day before the event, we'll send an email with the link to join the presentation. Is this your first Zoom event? Don't worry. The email will tell you everything you need to know. Everyone welcome. Free. Registration required so we can send you the link to the presentation.
