About this event
Join us on a tour of The Met Philadelphia, formerly the lavish Metropolitan Opera House.
Originally built in 1908 by Oscar Hammerstein, the building has experienced years of changing fortunes as a movie theater, venue for basketball and boxing, vocational school, gospel concert hall, and home of the Church of the Holy Ghost.
In its newest rebirth, The Met has undergone a $56 million restoration into one of the crown jewels of North Broad Street's renaissance. It is recognized internationally for its superb acoustics and was once the recording hall for the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Met possesses both the city's largest performance stage, and theatrical auditorium.
For an interesting look at this historic Philadelphia building, please register here on line or at 267-444-4507 (M-F, 9-6), so we know to look for you.
We will carpool from the library at 10:15.
