Second Annual Progressive Dinner – Saturday, April 27, 2019

Last year’s Progressive Dinner was such a success that we got requests to repeat it this year. Here are details about the three-course Progressive Dinner on Saturday, April 27.  The evening  begins with a first course at 5:30 pm followed by a secon course at 6:45, and ends with the grand dessert finale at 8:30 pm and lasting as long as the desserts!

Margaret Sadler proposed the Progressive Dinner as a way for Village members to get better acquainted, enjoy good food, and have a great time. Margaret will once again be the overall Dinner Coordinator.

This fun event is limited to 36 Village members  who participate in 18 pairs. Each course requires two persons (a pair) to serve as hosts. If you are not part of a Household Membership, ask a Village friend to partner with you.

If you decide to host a first or second course, you will prepare your choice of food for six - yourselves plus four guests.  Those who choose not to host a first or second Course will be dessert hosts, bringing  a dessert to be shared at the grand dessert finale where we all share the evening’s experience. This year the grand dessert finale is at the home ofFaye Senneca and Richard Weisenberg home on Apalogen Road.

Still confused? Simply said, each pair will “host” once and each pair will be a guest twice and meeting new people at each course.

The Progressive Dinner summary:

Six homes for 1st  Course that begins at 5:30.
Six homes for 2nd Course that begins at 6:45.
Six pairs hosting dessert at home of Faye Senneca and Richard Weisenberg at 8:30.

If two single Village friends host a first or second course, they will choose which home to use.

Hosts for the first or second course prepare food for six (themselves and four guests).

Those who do not host a first or seconnd course are Dessert Hosts at Faye's and Richard's home, providing dessert and helping to clean up.

All participants will know their hosts’ names and locations prior to the Dinner.
All hosts will know the names of their guests prior to the Dinner.

Here’s hoping that this teaser for an energizing evening gets you excited and interested.

Q Do I have both the first and second courses with the same people?
A  No, you get to meet different people at each of the courses. Sitting down and sharing food is the best way to get to know each other.

Q  How will I know where to go for each course?
A  At least one week before the event, you will get an email with the names and addresses for your hosts.  Likewise, the Hosts will get an email with the names of their guests.

Q  What exactly do I serve on the first course?
A  Whatever you like as appetizers.

Q Any ideas for the second Course?
A Something that won't keep you from enjoying the first course; nothing that requires you to run home.  How about an elegant cold poached salmon platter waiting in the 'fridge, or a hearty stew or pot roast keeping warm in the oven or Crock Pot?

Q  What about allergies?
A  As a courtesy, we suggest that the hosts contact their assigned guests and inquire about possible allergies. But as a guest you could also let the host know in advance.

Q  How do we act as hosts at the Dessert Course since it’s not at our house?
A  Bring a dessert serving 6-10  to Faye and Richard’s home  You will act as gracious hosts, including clean-up.

Q  Does everyone have job to do?
A  Yes. There are 36 total participants and everyone is a host and everyone is a guest.

Q I'm not in a household.  How can I participate?
A Ask another Villager (sorry members only) to co-host.  Need help finding a co-host?  Send an email to info@eastfallsvillage.org and we'll try to match you up with someone else who's looking.

To wrap it all up…
