Summer Gathering
Sunday, June 11, 3 to 5 pm
Tuttleman Center, Jefferson University
School House Lane & Vaux Street
This Gathering will showcase the special project which involved some East Falls Village members serving as Client Educators for a team of Occupational Therapy students who interviewed the client about how a physical challenge impacted their daily lives. After two interviews by the OT students, an Industrial Design student in the assistive technology class helped design and fabricate a device to help the client. Some Client Educators were recruited from the UUH Outreach Program in Germantown.
Some of the difficulties the Client Educators had were walking the dog, gardening, carrying laundry down steps, reaching the top kitchen cabinets, gripping a pen, getting in and out of the tub, and lifting the bike onto a bike hitch. The teams came up with some very innovative solutions – as you will see in the poster that each team created.
The posters will be on display and can be viewed before the meeting and during the social hour while enjoying wine and cheese.
Everyone who is present can enter a raffle for a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
