Who Decides How You Will Die?

Lessons from Barbara Mancini’s Personal Story

Sunday, January 28, 2 pm

East Falls Presbyterian Church

3800 Vaux St.

In 2013, nurse Barbara Mancini was prosecuted on the charge of aiding her 93-year-old father’s attempted suicide. He was in hospice and asked her to hand him his prescribed morphine. The police and hospice workers ignored his written advance directives, and he was hospitalized and treated in defiance of his end-of-life wishes. He died five days later.

Barbara’s prosecution lasted a year, gained national attention – and was roundly criticized in the media. She was interviewed on NPR and 60 Minutes. She has traveled the country as an advocate for improved care and more end-of-life options.

She will talk about her legal case, end-of-life decision making, and the steps you need to take to protect yourself and your loved ones at the end of life.

No registration needed for this free program, which is open to all. It will be held in the church sanctuary, which is handicapped accessible.
